The Hunter and His Quarry

The hunter sets out at dawn,
His heartbeat steady and strong.
Into the forest he’s drawn;
A mission he must not prolong.

Deep within the woods, a deer grazes.
Untroubled by the world around,
As sunlight dances on her raises
And the wind whispers without a sound.

Their paths are fated to cross,
But the deer is unaware;
While the hunter moves like lightning across
The forest floor, cautious and aware.

The chase begins with a silent step,
A dance of predator and prey.
As the deer flees through the trees with speed,
Leaving behind just a fading ray.

A bond forms between them both;
The hunter respects his quarry’s strength.
For the deer embodies freedom in her troth –
A force that cannot be suppressed at length.

The chase continues, day after day,
Each time a new pursuit begins.
The deer ever-elusive, always swaying
Into the forest’s hidden depths and bends.

Eyes lock as they meet in moments of rest;
Both knowing their purpose and fate.
For the hunter has sworn to give his best,
And the deer never hesitates.

The deer may eventually fall,
But her spirit lives on, defiant.
As the hunter stands tall amid it all,
Humbled by the grace of the prey he sought.

The sun sets upon this sacred land;
A new chapter unfolds for both.
The deer’s legacy now forever branded
Into the heart of the forest and its hosts.

And thus, the story ends as it began –
Between a hunter and his quest;
For in the cycle of life, no man can stand
Against the forces that nature has blessed.
