The Tale of Adam and Eve

In God’s great garden did He create,
A man both strong and fair;
He breathed into him life,
And named this gentle soul, Adam.

Alone in paradise, Adam roamed,
But his heart desired company;
So God took from his side,
A rib, to fashion a companion.

From this very bone, He made her true,
And named her Eve with grace and love;
Thus man and woman were united,
In an eternal bond from above.

But evil lurked in the shadows,
A serpent who envied their lives;
Promising knowledge and power,
He tempted Eve with a poisonous bite.

Eve, curious and allured,
Broke God’s commandment for the first time;
She took from the forbidden tree,
And shared its fruit with Adam in crime.

As their eyes were opened,
Their innocence fell like leaves in autumn;
Guilt and shame overwhelmed them,
As they realized their sinful decision.

Angered by their disobedience,
God cast the couple from Eden’s gates;
A lifetime of toil awaited them,
As they faced a world full of hate.

Yet in His infinite mercy,
The Lord provided for them still;
Clothing their nakedness,
And promising redemption on a distant hill.
