Amidst the oil-rich desert sands,
A nation once known for peace,
Became the subject of greed’s demands,
As a neighboring power did not cease.
The date etched in history’s pages,
August of ’90 had come,
When Saddam’s forces took their rages,
And invaded Kuwaiti land, they swarmed.
Guns were fired, bombs did detonate,
Terror descended on the land,
As families raced to escape their fate,
Beneath the clouds of smoke and sand.
The world stood aghast at the deeds,
A united front was formed,
To fight against these savage breeds,
And free the nation that was swarmed.
A coalition from afar did rise,
Nations joined hands to right the wrongs,
United in their quest for justice,
Against this brutal act of force and throngs.
Operation Desert Storm began,
Military might was unfurled,
A decisive war that would soon end,
With Kuwait’s liberation being assured.
Saddam’s grip on power loosened its hold,
As the nation fought back with pride,
The spirit of a people was unfrozen,
Refusing to be silenced or denied.
Freedom did ring throughout the land,
Kuwaiti flags unfurled in triumph,
Victory celebrated hand-in-hand,
Their resilience shown, they stood undaunted.
A lesson taught and learned through tears,
War’s scars may never fully heal,
But courage and unity appear,
When nations come together to seal.
